Hi! I'm Allegra Benson.  I live on a beautiful property in Menifee, CA with my family, dogs, and horses. I am a retired teacher.  I taught for the past 25 years with the Temecula and Lake Elsinore School Districts. I was blessed to work with students in all elementary grade levels during my career. During the last 5 years of my career, I specialized in interventions for reading, math, and social-emotional behaviors. Focusing on helping a child regulate and learn more about themselves emotionally so that they had a better capacity to learn was extremely rewarding. Once we were able to accomplish that, then we dove into the subjects of need.  Kids would be surpassing their goals growing multiple grade levels in a single year!

My dad always made sure I had a pony or horse in my backyard! I spent most of my childhood on the back of a horse if I wasn't in school. I have had many lessons and trainers that taught me many disciplines including English and Western styles of riding. Today, I even continue my riding education because I believe that we can always learn and grow no matter what we know!

Classes:
I want to continue to pay it forward by working with kids and my horses. I believe that working with horses can help an individual build confidence, self-efficiency, communication, trust, perspective, social skills, impulse control, learn boundaries and much more. Interaction with horses can also help regulate mood and relieve stress and anxiety.

My ultimate goal is your child walking away with a smile on their face and willingness to do it again! All children are welcomed including our LGBTQIA+ friends. Please contact me for any special considerations and needs. All classes are customizable to meet your child's needs.

Trimming:
Barefoot trimming is a passion of mine as well! Yes, I trim horses feet. I am currently working towards my certification with PHCP, working with a mentor, and trimming feet. Making horses more comfortable and able to move better barefoot is so rewarding.

My own horses are barefoot!! My gelding, Jet, was not barefoot when I bought him. He had metal shoes on all fours with contracted heels and central sulcus issues, a weak digital cushion and thin soles. I completely understand the "journey" it takes to removing shoes and building a better hoof!
My mare, Luna, struggles with EMS/IR. So I understand the importance of diet and exercise! They are your only tools of defense with these horses!

I look forward to meeting you!
